Limited Editions

I offer signed prints exclusively. My prints are open editions. I create only larger scale prints, because landscape art such as mine, of a more expressionist style, works best at scale.

All prints are signed and numbered.

My prints are produced locally, in Toronto where I live. I personally audit and approve art prints as they are printed.

Dating on each print references the date on which the original digital master was completed.

There is general agreement that a signature adds value to an art print:

“A Picasso with a signature may be worth twice as much as one without a signature,” according to Mark Rosen, former head of the print department at Sotheby’s. “Chagall did a series of prints called ‘Daphne and Chloe’ and those that are signed are worth 10 times as much as those that are unsigned. Otherwise, they are the same prints.”

Mine are signed front and back, in pencil. Pencil is low-tech but ironically difficult to reproduce accurately.

Signature is hand printed in pencil on the front, and both printed and written in pencil on the back. My natural written signature is too big to be appropriate for the front, as matting would have to allow for it, and demand way too much room for those who prefer only a half inch or so of white space around an art print. So I print my name on the front, along with the title of the work.

Numbering is indicated in pencil on the front and back of the print. The same number is entered in pencil next to a serial-numbered holograph seal on the back, referred to below. The authenticity of the print is guaranteed on the certificate of authenticity, also referred to below.

Every print comes with what is referred to by security documentation firms as a “tamper-evident” holographic seal applied to the back. Tamper-evident means that if someone attempts to remove the seal, they may succeed in pulling off the hologram but there will be a residue left on the surface that will indicate tampering. It also destroys the hologram image when the label is removed from the surface to which it is applied.

All holograms are numbered with a unique serial number. This hologram seal is issued in matching pairs. One goes on the back of the print. The other goes on a certificate of authenticity, discussed next.

A signed, dated and numbered certificate of authenticity with matching hologram comes with each print. All numbers on the print match their counterparts on the accompanying certificate. The certificate is printed on 100% rag paper. It guarantees that the print was created by me.
